Autism diagnosis
March 20th, 2007Autism diagnosis usually occurs at the age 3.Research indicates that early diagnosis is associated with dramatically better outcomes for individuals with autism. Diagnosis includes Physical examination,Medical history (includes family history, birth history, and early development) and Medical tests.
Fristly,an accurate diagnosis must be based on observation of the individual’s communication, behavior, and developmental levels.Physicians use various screening tools to evaluate development, communication and language skills, and interaction with others.
The second stage of diagnosis must be comprehensive in order to accurately rule in or rule out an ASD or other developmental problem. This evaluation may be done by a multidisciplinary team that includes a psychologist, a neurologist, a psychiatrist, a speech therapist, or other professionals who diagnose children with ASD.
The autism prognosis is consistent across a broad range of?? studies – about 2% will attain normal functioning, with perhaps 40% labeled?? high functioning autistic.
