Autism symptoms involve a number of varying behavior expressions. In addition to those noted above, autism may be present if the person is able to completely disengage from the world. The person with autism may walk on his or her toes. An unusual attachment to a toy, a blanket, or some other object may be a sign of autism. The person with autism will not seem to be aware of impending danger, such as an oncoming car or exposed electrical wires.

Children with autism tend to not care for playing pretend, while adults with autism have trouble with daydreaming or imagining. The person with autism may become stuck in a repetitive pattern of doing the same task over and over again, even when the task is complete, such as washing one’s hands. A child with autism may be very active, but resists any attempts to get the child to play with or cooperate with others. A temper tantrum, complete with flailing arms and screams may appear from nowhere with the person suffering with autism.

There are many more symptoms that may point to the presence of autism. Essentially, any behavior that appears to be antisocial may indicate the presence of autism.
