Public School District for High F 6 year old

March 31st, 2007

Is it best to place a child who is High F together with other High F. My school district is offering me a placement for Daniel. The classroom is high F children (13). The teacher has been trained in Autism. She has 2 aides. They also have O.T one on one when a child needs it and speech one on one when needed. The school also offers group speech and group O.T. They say they have pull-ups. Please reply to my concerns or some concerns I should have. My concern is what is the law fornumber of students  in a High F. Autism class? (AUTISTIC SPECTRUM DISORDER) I always thought it was 10? DO You think I should continue his one on one speech and one on one O.T that I pay for by private means? Daniel has Sensory Intergration and his one on one O.T helps him so very much. I’m also thinking of going to mediation by hiring a Special Ed Lawyer to make the school district pay for his private school he is  going  to in the 2006-2007 school year. (fall) He has been in a private school for childen with mild to mod disiblities.I pulled him out of the school district because they weren’t doing what the IEP contract said. They gave no O.T and they took 3 months to give him speech. The then gave him 3 on 1 speech. It’s hard to trust them after that. What advice can any one give me. I just want to do what is appropriate so I can see if I can get a free education. I’m going broke paying $35,000 this year.
God BLess you all .
