Allergy testing

toonietoonsWe had a session with jackson’s EI yesterday and she suggested that we have him tested for allergies. He has no symptoms, or none that I know of, but she said that sometimes when kids crave certain foods (he pretty much lives on carbs!)it’s because they’re not getting what they need from them??? Does this make sense?
Should I do thet esting? I hate to put him through unnessesary discomfort or pain. She said there’s a blood test and a skin test. Does anyone know how the skin test is done?

sashasmomThe test that is most common for ASD kids who aren’t using their local lab is the Comprehensive Food Allergy Test done by Great Plains Lab. They test for 97 foods and many of them are rare foods that a normal person isn’t allergic to but a lot of ASD kids are allergic to. Their test is based on studies that they have done by testing hundreds of asd kids for food allergies. Many have the common allergens but most of them showed similarities in many of the rare allergens. The test is very specific with which nuts which seeds which veggies and so on. Here’s the link to read about it.

If they don’t take your insurance there are other labs that specilize in doing test with Asd kids like great smokies lab.
