How can i tell if my 5 week old baby has autism?
September 13th, 2007Q: My five week old baby will not look anyone in the face. I know this is a sign of autism, but is it too early to tell, or is it that my child is still too young to like to look at faces?
Answer:
you can’t see the signs until about 3-6 months. If he is not looking in your eyes by 3 months, then ask your doctor about it. Right now your baby can only see 20 or so inches from him. Tracking will take place in a couple of weeks. Just wait.
By the way, if your baby is a girl, girls are 1/4 of the autistic population The term autism is much broader and looser than it use to be (which is one reason why the numbers are so high). If detected early, you can pretty much take care of most kinds with therapy.
