Airlines willing to make adjustments and exceptions for autistic children
September 17th, 2007Q: Are there any airlines willing to make adjustments and exceptions for my 3-three-old daughter, who has autism?
This question is primarily for other parents who have children with autism. Any information about specific airlines is much appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!
Answer:
Yes.JetBlue is one of the best I’ve heard (and experienced, I have a 3 year old autistic son). Another friend of mine used them, and called JetBlue customer service prior to her flight, explaining she had an autistic child, etc. They had a customer service rep meet her curbside, checked her in right away (so you don’t have to wait in that line), then escorted her through security (again, no waiting), and escorted her right onto the plane and assured she had the seat she wanted, she preboarded so had plenty of time, etc. Any airline you fly I would call their customer service department and see what they can do (not sure exactly what accomodations you need) – my issue was always waiting in lines – torture!
