Is autism a case of an extreme male brain?
September 21st, 2007The suggestion is that in males and females with autism; the brain is essentially extremely “male” caused by an excess of testosterone.
Note, not the person, just the brain. The brain has these features as a result of the wrong amounts of hormones during development. What I want to know is, since autism is supposedly a case of an extreme male brain (for both females and males with autism), there must be a disorder associated with having an extreme female brain (which would also potentially occur within males and females).
Maybe it would be a disorder associated with a lack of testosterone and/or too much testosterone in the womb during fetal development? Can anybody find anything like that? Williams syndrome is an interesting case but I do not believe it is a true correspondence. And neither is feminism.
