My opinion on autism
September 27th, 2007A lot of people are suggesting that autism is not any more prevalent, but it was just not diagnosed properly in the past.
Others suggest that there are better methods of diagnosis, along with wider public awareness of the condition which has brought about better diagnostic criteria.
Or all of that may be a bunch of bulls and there is simply an increase in the occurrence.
As pessimistic as it may sound, my ‘gut’ makes me lean toward the latter. Environmental pollution, artificial preservatives, toxic contamination to our air/water/food: It seems difficult for me to believe that generation after generation of our species being born into such an environment would not start to suffer some kinds of effect over the long run. (My mind hopes that I’m wrong, but….. who knows?!)
