ABA or Sonrise?

Q: We are looking for a less intrusive educational approach for our child and have been looking into trying out Sonrise. WE really want a more child led approach and want to really get to know our boy again after our less than perfect experiences with ABA. My biggest concerns about sonrise is the ??oining??and wanted to know how parents feel about this. Our ABA program was very involved in bringing our boy into ??ur??world and didnt give a moment?? thought to our boys world really.

Answer:

I did Son-Rise with my son and I highly recommend giving it a try since you want a more child centered approach. The joining seems odd at first, but it works really well opening that door to their world. Once you get that connection, then you can start to bring him into your world and it won?? be by force. You just have to go at their pace. Obviously, that will be different for every child.

I have become acquainted with a lot of Son-Rise families and the one?? who are successful are 100% committed to the program, even if they have to work around jobs, etc. They do it whenever they can and just keep plugging away.

Did you call and get your 25-minute free consultation with the SR people yet? If not, you should as soon as you can. They will answer any questions throughly. You can get names & phone numbers of people that have done the program who have children similar to yours. That helped me out a ton.

I want to warn you that you are likely to get some negative comments about Son-Rise from people who have never tried it. There is now empirical evidence that SR does work. There is a download on the SR website.

God bless.
