GFCF diet for autism and yeast problem
December 10th, 2007Q: I heard that GFCF diet for autism can unmask a yeast problem. It appears my daughter has a yeast infection. She is miserable right now poor thing. We are getting ready to take her to the doctors but I was wondering if this might be a sign that she does have a problem with yeast. This all started with the GFCF diet. So I am wondering if the two are related.
Answer:
Yeast problems occur when you get bad results from feeding sugars and starches. These could be in the forms of fruit sugars or any other types of sugars. Starches are foods like rice, corn, potatos, etc. Both starches and sugars can be very problematic.
The most natural way to stop the yeast problem is to simply stop feeding it! The best diet for autism is one consisting of meats (with no additives) and green vegetables (like broccoli, spinach, green beans, cabbage, etc.). If you feed yeast it will proliferate!
You may find it terribly difficult to get away from starches so if you must, try to alternate days they are used as food so the yeast gets fed only every other day or so. This reduces the yeast problem somewhat.
Understand this: Starches are generally foods cultivated by man and the wild animals that live far from the fields avoid them and enjoy nearly perfect health.
If the body cannot digest starch well something else will, and that something else from what I’ve read is yeast. People do not digest starches real well and to avoid eating much starch is a healthy move. There are some good books written about yeast and health problems.
