Three years ago, Louisa Silva, M.D., M.P.H from Western Oregon University Teaching Research Institute and colleagues proceeded a small controlled study of how Chinese Qigong Massage works for autistic children. They have trained parents from 150 families, he massage is given twice daily by a parent. According to Families who participated in the programme, the results could be tremendous.

After five months of Qigong Massage methodology, children with autism had much fewer tantrums. The severity of autism was reduced in measures of autistic behavior as well as improvements in motor skills, sensory function and over all general health. They got to be more calm and relax, in the meanwhile, they could sleep peacefully and communicate better.

Qigong massage is based on the idea that the problem with autism is that sensory information is blocked, so the physician works to unblock it. The 15-minute massage involves a series of 13 patting, pressing and shaking movements against the muscle rather than the pinching and pressing of acupressure points.

Qigong massage is derived from 5000 years of study and practice, great wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It focuses on clearing out energy blockages along the body’s 12 primary meridians, or energy pathways as identified in Chinese medicine.

The documentary film, helping Families with Autism: Qigong Massage, offers the community an opportunity to learn about how families experience the Qigong massage autism treatment method to me, this is the missing link, said the mother of one child in the film. It unlocks the kids and it is just an amazing thing to see.
